Our beginner course is aimed to start you off the right way, with an emphasis on safety and fun. Surfing is a great form of exercise and the best way to enjoy the sea. Most of our students stand up on the first day! For an idea of what to expect, read on… Minimum level required: None
Typical 1st day 10.30am: First meet at the surf camp before we will go to our surf shop, where we will pick up boards & wetsuits. After that we head to the beach. Unload boards, quick warm-up. 15/20 minute intro, including the surfboard, catching waves, safety briefing. Then it's into the sea for your first taste of surfing. You'll be wobbly at first, but soon get the hang of catching waves. Your instructor will then teach you the pop-up (standing up) and soon you'll find yourself whooping with delight as you glide in, standing up on your first wave!
12.30pm: Break for lunch, sandwiches on the beach, spot of sunbathing!
01.00pm: Quick theory lesson (eg: how waves are formed, what to do if you get caught in a rip-current) on the sand before entering the sea again where your instructors will give you lots of personal attention and feedback on your progress.
02.30pm: Feedback, then pack up, load boards, head back to surf camp.
03.00pm: Video analysis session (once or twice a week) so you can see yourself in action! Then, relax, soak up the sun by the pool, go shopping, or try one of the many other activities on offer here.
08.00pm: Evening barbecue & drinks. Time to unwind and party with new friends! Includes: All equipment, transport to & from the beach, expert tuition, video support, light snack*, insurance. Optional professional photo shoots. (For guests staying in the surf camp)
